4-H
We got into goats as a project for my nieces to show in 4-H. They work really hard to get their animals to be well showing animals. I take care of the feed bills and feeding them when they are not at my house but I do not share the showing duty's. These goats are 100% trained by my nieces. I think kids need help doing somethings and I am always there if they need me but training the goats is their job if they want to show. My girls do a great job at helping each other out and Taylor is really good at helping the younger girls learn the proper way to handle the goats for the show ring. I was a 10 year 4-H member and am now on the Allen County 4-H board of directors. I am very dedicated to this wonderful organization and I feel it is a total benefit for every kid out there to be a part of. It teaches you responsibility, respect, dedication, how to get along with others, and good sportsmanship. I was in the Swine and Dairy beef projects for all 10 years. I also showed pet rabbit for 3 years and showed market dairy goats for 2 year. Even though I showed those goats for 2 years I knew nothing about them. I was still able to win overall reserve grand champion market wether but we are still not sure how we did that. These goats have been a great learning experience and I hope we can do better every year. Winning is not my top priority even though its nice I just want my girls to have fun and learn something while doing it. Good luck to everyone and I hope you or your kids can take part in this amazing organization soon.
